We’re excited to share that Lightning Reach has been awarded funding, in collaboration with Pocket Power and Lambeth Council, to support homelessness prevention in Lambeth, as part of The Royal Foundation’s Homewards initiative.

Homewards is a transformative five-year, locally-led programme launched by Prince William and The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales. It aims to demonstrate that homelessness can be ended by making it rare, brief, and unrepeated through place-based partnerships in six flagship UK locations, including Lambeth.

Building on our homelessness work in Lambeth

We’ve already been working with Lambeth Council to enable residents to find support through our digital platform. Over 5000 Lambeth residents have accessed £200,000 in support through the Lightning Reach portal to date, and the recent launch of our Homeless Pathway has significantly streamlined

Lambeth’s homeless presentations (check out our latest webinar diving into the outcomes so far). This new funding will build on that impact, helping us and our partners go further and faster to prevent homelessness, with a focus on lone parents at risk within the borough.

As part of the project:

  • Lightning Reach will provide the digital platform powering Lambeth’s homelessness prevention pathway, enabling residents at risk of or experiencing homelessness to find and apply for financial and housing support in one place.

  • Pocket Power will offer an inclusive phone service for residents to access financial and housing support, helping less digitally included residents to reduce financial pressures and build resilience.

Together, we aim to reach more residents before they reach crisis point, making it easier for them to access the help they need to stay housed and financially secure.

Why this matters

This partnership is about proactive support, delivered through digital innovation and strong local collaboration. By working together, we hope to reduce the number of residents at risk of losing their homes, and to be part of a national movement showing that homelessness can be prevented through smart, joined-up action.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to reach and support more people through this new collaboration with Pocket Power, and to work with the Royal Foundation and Lambeth Council to reduce the risk of homelessness in the borough. By testing and learning through this project, we aim to be able to scale and create more impact across the UK as well.” - Ren Yi Hooi, CEO, Lightning Reach

“Combining Pocket Power and Lightning Reach is a powerful way to increase the financial resilience of people at risk of homelessness in Lambeth. Together, we will be able to reach more people and offer them more financial support. We’re delighted to be working with the Royal Foundation, Lambeth Council and Lightning Reach to develop this innovative way to reduce the risk of homelessness in Lambeth and beyond.” - Helen Burgess, Managing Director, Pocket Power

We’re proud to be working alongside Lambeth Council, Pocket Power, and Homewards to drive forward systemic change in the way homelessness is addressed and prevented.
