After a devastating house fire damaged much of their home and belongings, Igors and his family spent several weeks living in a hotel before moving into temporary accommodation. While trying to rebuild their lives, they faced rising costs, damaged furniture, and higher energy bills caused by damp and mould issues in their new home.
After learning about Lightning Reach through conversations with Lambeth Council and Citizens Advice, Igors applied for support through the platform. He was matched with the Rowland Hill Fund and received £1,000 in vouchers to help replace essential household items lost or damaged following the fire.
Being able to replace essential furniture, including proper beds, helped make Igors' temporary accommodation more comfortable and liveable. With those essentials taken care of, they were able to focus on settling into their new home and recovering from an incredibly difficult experience.
"The first thing that we will buy is proper beds."
